Breylon Smith, Board Secretary/ Programs Chair
Breylon is a native of Youngstown, Ohio and is passionate about youth development, social justice, entrepreneurship, and volunteerism. Breylon has worked in Washington, DC since 2014 with Higher Achievement and currently serves as a Center Director. Prior to this work, Breylon gained experience in the education field at Global Scholars Academy, a public charter school in Durham, NC. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and volunteers in various opportunities throughout the DMV area.
Breylon is a proud graduate of North Carolina Central University located in Durham, NC completing his Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education (Cum Laude) and his Master’s degree in Public Administration. He also earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. His interests include organizational leadership, community outreach, and consulting. Breylon aspires to be an ethical public servant and an influential entrepreneur. His philosophy for leadership is driven by his vision to help people become self-sufficient and inspire others to pursue and accomplish their dreams.
Yuan Liu, Development Chair
Yuan Liu is an EdTech entrepreneur deeply passionate about education and creating opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds. Currently the founder and CEO of Gregory, he previously served as a Venture For America fellow in Atlanta and Detroit and ran an organization helping high school students in small cities explore educational opportunities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College and a Bachelor of Engineering from Dartmouth College.
