Project Inspire Recipient Spotlight: KeAsiah McLaughlin

Project Inspire Scholarship Recipient Spotlight
KeAsiah McLaughlin – Third-Year Student at North Carolina A&T University

Check out our second Project Inspire Scholarship feature, KeAsiah McLaughlin, currently a third-year student at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University. She is the oldest of her siblings and the first to go to college in her immediate family. We hope you enjoy learning more about our awesome recipient.

This semester, what organizations are you currently involved in on campus?
This semester, I continue to be involved in the North Carolina A&T University marching band, “The Blue and Gold Marching Machine” as head captain of the auxiliary squad. I am also currently the chapter vice president of Tau Beta Sigma, National Honorary Band Sorority Incorporated.

What community service have you participated in this semester?
I’ve most recently been involved in a highway clean up along with recruitment activities at my high school to ensure that more high school students have the opportunity to attend college and that they can also learn from my own experiences.

What is one awesome thing you love about college (and maybe even your college specifically)?
I love being a student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University because I feel it is the best HBCU yet. I love being around other successful and inspiring African-American men and women. I feel it has a great balance of academics AND fun! I am getting the best experience at the university. Every day, I grow into a better person because of the lessons I learn and people I encounter.

What would you like to tell our funders?
Thank you for funding my collegiate experience. It takes a village to raise a child, and without your help, I would not be having my best experience yet.

A huge round of applause for KeAsiah for her leadership on campus and her willingness to give back to her own community in Washington, D.C. It does take a village to raise a child, and now KeAsiah can be part of that village for those who come after her!

Thank you for reading about our amazing Project Inspire scholarship recipient, and expect more great updates about our Project Inspire Scholarship recipients to come!
